Hugh X Reader - Safety

“Hugh! Hugh!” I yelled as I ran up to him. He was walking to Undella Town.

When I got up to him he looked worried. “(Name), why were you running? You could have fell down and hurt yourself. You’re never careful,” he said.

“Come on. We’re on our way to Humilau City to get our eighth and last badge. Isn’t that exciting?” I asked.

“Yeah. But I still want to find Plasma,” he said angrily.

“Whoa. Calm down, Hugh. It’ll be okay,” I said trying to calm him down. Even at the slightest mention of Team Plasma and he freaks out. His red eye could get scary from time to time and scare people off but I always tried to make him not think about Plasma and not worry about any of that.

It wasn’t working today.

“It’s not okay, (Name)! They need to pay,” he said.

I backed off a little. “I know how about we go to the Marine Tube? Not just pass though it to Humilau but Enjoy the scenery?” I asked with a smile.

“Fine,” he said looking away. Well it was progression.

We made our way to the Marine Tube and Hugh got us two tickets. He came back and said, “Alright. We’re good.”

“I’m going to have to pay you back for that,” I said.

“Don’t worry about it. Come on, let’s go,” he said. He defiantly calmed down from earlier now. I haven’t seen him that worked up before. He must have ran into them lately.

I ran up to a part of the wall and Hugh ran after me telling me to be careful. There were so many water pokémon you could see. Corsola, Closter and Shellder, Luvdisc, Jellicent and Frillish, Staryu, Remoraid, Mantyke and Mineine, Wailmer, and Octillery. All in their natural environment.

“Isn’t this amazing, Hugh?” I asked looking at him with a smile.

He blushed and looked away. “Yeah. Like how it’s in the wild,” he said.

Then two Luvdisc went by and an old couple behind us said, “Looks like they’re tell you something kiddies.  It’s said when two Luvdisc go by a couple they will be happy forever.” She said. Both Hugh and I blushed and looked away from each other. “Ahh to be young and in love.” She and her husband then left.

Hugh and me . . . in love? No. We’ve been friends since we were little and kind of grew a rivalry. Not a bad one just where we use each other to be the best we can be. But in love? Was I? I knew I really liked being around him but love? Or was he? Did he love me?

“(Name)!” Hugh yelled. I jumped and looked at him. “You coming or what?”

I ran up to him and walked beside him. “Sorry, I was distracted.”

“It’s fine,” he said. “This place does have a lot of beautiful stuff in it.”

“Yeah,” I said.

We made it to the end of the tube and Hugh said he’d be right back so I waited for him at the entrance. I begain to wonder what he was doing but I knew if I didn’t stay where he told me to he’d freak out. He was always worried about my safety.

“Hey the beautiful,” a man said to me. I snapped back and looked at him. “I’ve been looking all over for you.”

“I don’t know you so how can you be looking for me?” I asked.

“Oh, you’re innocent. Come on let’s go,” he said putting his arm around me.

Soon I was pulled from the man and the man against the wall. Hugh had his collar and held him up against the wall. “You messed with the wrong girl,” Hugh said.

“Get your own girl,” the man said.

“I did and it’s her,” Hugh said. Hugh looked back to see me scared and shaking. He looked back at the man and dropped him. “Get out of here before I unleash my rage on you.” The man than ran away.

Hugh turned back to me. “(Name), are you alright?” he asked. I couldn’t speak so I just nodded. He looked apologetic. “I’m sorry I shouldn’t have left you alone like that.”

“It’s okay. I just got scared,” I barely said.

“Let’s keep going to Humilau. We can set up a camp together,” he said.

We left and went to Route 22 and thought we’d battle Marlon tomorrow since it was pretty late now. We made a simple campsite. We had a huge log behind us and a fire in front of us. And a tent that he gave to me.

We sat in front of the fire after we ate a stew I made. Hugh noticed I was still a bit shaky. “(Name), you going to be okay?” he asked.

“Y-Yeah. It’s just. I got really scared. If it wasn’t for you he would have taken me away.”

“Don’t worry about it too much, (Name). You’re safe now, right?” He smiled.

“Right,” I said. He moved me closer to him and put my head on his shoulder then wrapped his arm around me so he was holding me. “H-Hugh?”

“Listen, I’m sorry you saw me like that. It’s just I don’t like when guys touch you. I don’t want to lose you, (Name). I guess that’s why I care so much about your safety,” he said. Was the old couple right now? Was he confessing his love to me? “You may not feel the same way but I think of you more than what you are, (Name).”

I backed off. “You do?” I asked staring in this red eyes.

“Yeah,” he said. “(Name) . . . I’m sorry I can’t hide it anymore. I really like you. I have for sometime and it’s only gotten worse,” he said.

“Hugh, I . . . I feel the same way,” I said.

He smiled and then cupped my cheek. “Good then I guess I can do this now,” he said. He lowered himself down a little and kissed me lightly on the lips. He pulled back and were stared at each other.

I went back in and kissed him back. His lips were really cool. It was then I noticed how strong he was because I felt his muscles. They were big but not too big. Perfect. Like him.

We backed off. “You know you’re going to get more protective of me now right?”

He let out a little chuckle as he put his forehead on mine. “Only a lot.”

I giggled. “So then what do we do now? Defeat Marlon tomorrow and the next day then head to the Elite Four?”

“Yeah. But I’m happy we can do it together now,” he said. I felt all warm and fuzzy on the inside now. He could be really sweet when he wanted to be.

But it was soon after that that I rested my head on his shoulder and we held hands while we looked into the fire. Then I fell asleep on him. Feeling safe as can be. Nothing, not even Team Plasma could hurt me.

I guess I should thank those Luvdisc later for their help. Without them we’d both like each other and not do anything about it.
