N x reader - Love? Part 1

I was on my way to meet with my friend. He was here in Unova and I was really excited to see him. I hadn’t seen him since we were in Pallet Town together. You see Ash traveled a lot. He hardly ever stayed home when he was in Pallet. We met when he came back from Hoenn. I worked for Professor Oak. That’s why I was here, on Professor request.

Ash didn’t know I was here. So I had professor Oak call me and tell me where he was. Now I was heading there. It was a nice forest path I was taking. Peaceful and relaxing. The light warm breeze and the sound of Pokémon happily playing.

But then a cry came from in the woods. A sound most people wouldn’t know but I knew it well since I helped the professors and they helped me. I was always the type to help out Pokémon in pain and that’s what this sound was. I then ran to it as fast as I could.

I saw Team Plasma was hurting a Deerling. Without thinking I tackled the man who was doing it. “What the . . . ? You annoying brat!” he said and hit me pretty hard in the stomach.

I groaned as another started to hurt them. I got up and then stood between their Swoobat and the Deerling. I endured the attacks. They made them go even harder so I would get out of the way. I didn’t want to give up . . . no more like I wouldn’t give up. I needed withstand these attacks.

Something snapped me out of it. A voice. A male voice yelling. “Pikachu! Thunderbolt.” The attacks stopped on me and I fell down as I saw the thunderbolt come from behind me. I soon saw a Pikachu and then who else but Ash and his three friends.

I looked back to the Deerling. I smiled. “How are you two?” I asked. They moved to me and I petted them. They were perfectly fine. “That’s great.” I said as the two ran into the forest again. I got dizzy and held my head as I saw Plasma was gone.

“(Name)? What are you doing here?” Ash asked.

“Professor Oak sent me here to see Professor Juniper. I was coming to see you when I heard the Deerling getting hurt. So naturally I had to help. I just wish I brought (Pokémon partner) with me. I left (him or her) back with Professor Oak since (he or she) wasn’t feeling well. So surprise.” I said with a nervous giggle.

Ash smiled. “Are you okay?” Cilan, Striaton city’s gym leader asked.

“Yeah I will be.” I said standing up.

“Why did you do that?” the other green haired man asked.

“Because it’s what I do. I help protect injured Pokémon. Deerling needed protection from Team Plasma.” I said.

“(Name) wants to start a ranch with all the professors and the PH will be in charge of them.” Ash said.

“Ash.” I blushed a little.

“But it’s true. You’ll have four in charge of the one here.” he said.

“Well actually five.” I said. “Green and Red told me someone else joined the Unova branch.”  Pikachu ran up to my shoulder and nuzzled my cheek with his. I smiled and then kissed his cheek.

It was then Cilan’s idea to get to a Pokémon center. I learned that the girl’s name was Iris. She wanted to be a dragon master. She and Ash were a lot alike. Both wanted to be a master and very kid like though she made the comment ‘Only little kids like . . .’ or something along those lines. It made me smile to see Ash have such great friends. All but one this green haired man, N. He stared me down the entire way there like I did something terrible but I know I didn’t. So why did he hate me so much?

We got there and Nurse Joy took me to be looked at. There was no real damage done so I was able to go to Ash and his friend’s room to talk. There were three beds so N and I were the only ones not sleeping in there. It was fun I got to listen to everything they had been up to.

As we all talked Pikachu laid in my lap and I petted him. I often did this when I was around Red with Pika. It was something I did with (Pokémon partner) a lot so I got used to it. Beside some Pokémon in the labs that was the only way to calm them down, so it was a habit now. Pikachu seemed to love it but N still stared me down. I tried to ignore it but sometimes I’d look back at him. His green eyes were filled with so many things. Curiosity and rage seemed to be the two main things.

So after a bit Ash and his friends wanted to go to bed so I left Pikachu with Ash and then left with N. I headed to my room and N followed me. A bit creepy. He didn’t say anything only followed. So I looked back at him again with that stare.

“Did I do something to upset you?” I asked. He tilted his head curiously. “This entire time since you’ve met me you stare at me like I did something wrong but I can’t think of anything I did wrong.”

“Why did you do what you did back there for the Deerling?” he asked again.

“I told you. I had to do it. I didn’t want them to get hurt.” I said.

“Yes, I know. You said that.” He said. I sighed to myself and thought why he asked then. “Most humans would have just let it happen. Why didn’t you?”

My eye twitched in anger. “I don’t know what kind of person you are but I would never . . . Never . . . let that happen. It’s just cruel and heartless.” I said.

“Interesting,” he said hiding emotion back. “So then do you do that a lot? Save Pokémon?”

“Yes. So much the professors hate me.” I said.

“Interesting,” he said softly. N was pretty weird. He wasn’t like most guys. “So how do you know Ash?”

“We met in Pallet Town.” I said. “We both live there.”

“And you know the Ph with Red and Green.” He said.

“You met them?” I asked.

“Yes. I’m the fifth member from Unova.” He said. “I think I’ve seen you before at Oak’s.”

“It’s possible. I work there.” I said. “So why did you looks at me so pissed?”

“I wasn’t pissed at you but Team Plasma.” He said simply. “I hate them more than anything. I wondered why they would hurt you.”

“Because I attacked them for hurting Deerling.” I said. N nodded a response and then left. I was confused as to what he was thinking.
