I was so happy right now. I was holding my wife, (Name), on our couch. She had just fell asleep on my chest. She was so cute right now. Her (hair color) hair cascaded down me like a fine silk. Her fair skin was so soft to the touch. And my favorite thing as of right now was her big stomach. She said an egg was in there and would hatch inside her to give us a baby. I always thought it was sweet that she used Pokémon terms with me since she knew I was more comfortable this way but I knew what being pregnant was.

My favorite thing to do was to either pet her stomach, like I was now, or cuddling it while we sleeping. She was about nine months now so we’d have it any day now. I have to admit I was a bit annoying making sure she was alright, eating properly, getting enough sleep, not working too hard, or just being over bearing. I’d always make her meals and give them to her in bed. I took over all the chores and well everything. I took longer shifts for more money. I didn’t care since it’d be worth it in the end.

I smiled rubbing her stomach happily. I loved feeling it kick. We didn’t know what it was and I was happy with that. I was scared of it being a boy though. Ghetsis was my step-father but still I was afraid I’d end up like him. I know I could never be as bad as him though. I . . . I could never do what he did.

“N,” (Name)’s soft voice said. She looked up at me with her perfect (eye color) eyes. “What’s wrong? Oh I know that face. Shh. Shh,” she said holding my cheek. “Shh. Baby. Shh. You’ll never be like him.” She wiped my tears away.

“I know. I was thinking of my mom not so much him. Well first him and then her,” I said softly.

“I wish I could have met her. Do you think she’d like me?” she asked snuggling in my chest again.

I chuckled a little. “No, she wouldn’t like you. She’d love you. She’d love that you made me so happy,” I said. Truth is I don’t remember much about her but the one memory I remember more than anything is her death.

Long story short, I was in my room playing with Pokémon and toys with her when Ghetisis had me go with the goddesses, only I didn’t. I stayed in the hall and heard my mother scream. “No!” “You can’t do this!” “Think about N!” with other cries of pain. Minutes later I saw Ghetsis come out after being hidden behind a statue. He was covered in blood and when I went in I saw her and her favorite Pokémon friend, who was like a sister to me, dead and covered in a pool of their own blood. Then the Goddesses came in and took me away. After that they made sure I was protected from Ghetsis.

“That makes me happy,” she said with a cute little yawn.

I picked (Name) and took her to bed. She giggled and held onto my neck. “You are so cute,” I said kissing her softly.

“You’re cuter,” she said. “You know I hope our baby gets your hair. It’s always so soft and I’ve never once seen you brush it and we’ve been married for two years.”

I chuckled putting her back down. “Guess it’s a natural thing,” I said.

She giggled. “That’s funny,” she said. “Your name is Natural and you said natural.”

“You’re such a goofball when you’re tired,” I said as she curled up and fell asleep. I shook my head and laid down beside her only putting my head on her stomach. She held onto my hair and went to sleep. I felt the baby kick slightly before I slept.

I woke up in the middle of the night. I looked at the time and it was five am. I knew I couldn’t go back to sleep so I tried to get up. I put my hand down and felt the bed was wet. I looked at my hand in the dark. I barely saw anything but moved the blanket back to feel it again and sure enough I wasn’t imaging it. I turned on the light to reveal a huge wet spot on the bed.

(Name)’s water broke! She was in labor! I shook (Name) softly. “(Name). (Name),” I said.

“What?” she asked sitting up in a daze. “What’s wrong?”

“Your water broke,” I said calmly.

“Oh no! We’re having a baby!” she panicked.

I grabbed her face. “(Name), look at me. Calm down. Stress isn’t good for the baby. We’re fine for awhile. Trust me I read a lot of books and watched documentaries. I know what to look out for. I’ll get the backed bags to the car. Try to get ready and I’ll get you to the hospital.” She nodded. She wasn’t used to me being like this. I could tell with the shock on her face.

I went to do just that. I came back and helped her down to the car. We got there and the contractions started in the car. She went behind the doors. I remember trying to go with her but they wouldn’t let me as they took her to give birth and they sent me to a special waiting room.

It was one where it was just a room with chairs so me, her family and our friends could come. I called everyone but her parents told me to keep them updated since they were in another region so they’d be here later. Black, White, Mei, Kyouhei, and Hugh came. They saw me pacing back and forth when they came. I couldn’t sit still, I didn’t want to. I was going to be a father soon. I hated that I couldn’t be there with her when they said we could be together.

“Whoa. Whoa. Whoa,” Black said catching me. I looked up at him. “Wow, you look like a mess.”

“Well I would be too. If they didn’t let me in with Mei when she gave birth I’d freak,” Hugh said. Mei coughed and choked. Hugh rubbed her back.

“Point is we’re here for you, dude,” Kyouhei said hitting my back softly. “I mean you’re going to be a dad soon.”

“Yeah I am but I won’t be able to see it happen because they won’t let me back there with her because they had to induce it,” I said sitting down and holding my head.

“Aww, N,” White said rubbing my shoulder. All I could think about how scared (Name) was right now. I knew she had to be. Well scared but mostly in pain. I wanted to be there for her and it was literally killing me right no. I wanted to be there to hold her hand and tell her it’d be alright and to comfort her. She’d probably yell at me from the pain but I don’t care. I’d still be there and not here.

“N!” White said snapping me back to reality. I looked at her and her face only held worry. “Are you okay? It’s been a half hour and you’ve said nothing.”

“Huh? Yeah, I’m fine. Just thinking of (Name),” I said. I knew if I told them, the guys would have me over sensitive side and the girls would aww at me and hug me making the guys more jealous when it was their girlfriends. It happened a lot so I just kept my mouth shut about that sort of stuff.

About an hour later a doctor came in. “Mr. Harmonia,” he said.

I stood up and went to him. “That’s me. Is (Name) alright? Our child? Are they alright?” I asked.

“Yes, Mr. Harmonia. Everyone is alright. Your wife gave birth. Would you like to see them now,” he asked and I nodded like crazy being so happy.

He took me down a corridor and to her room. He opened the door and a smile of pure happiness came across my face. There (Name) was holding our newly born child. I went in and she smiled at me. “N, wanna come meet your son.” She said.

I went over and sat beside her. He had my hair and her eyes. He was beautiful. He was so cute and small. He looked like I could break him. “What’s his name?” I asked as I softly petted his head.

“I was thinking, Jacob,” she said. “What do you think?”

“I like it. Jacob, it is.” I said with a smile as I held her and him. Everything was so perfect now. None of what happened anymore. The joy I had couldn’t be described into words. I was the happiest man in the world. “I guess I can’t rub your stomach anymore huh?”

“No, you’ll have to go back to holding me again or little Jake,” she said and cuddled onto me. She yawned.

“Rest. We’ll talk later okay?” I asked holding her in-between my legs and wrapped my arms around her waist. She nodded and soon went to sleep. A nurse put Jacob in a bassinet before leaving. My family was complete now. I had people who loved me and I loved them back. I’d protect the as long as I was breathing. Now to see what the future held for me and my family. I couldn’t wait for it.
